Being a young person comes with a lot of unique challenges. Maintaining friendships and relationships, succeeding in education, establishing a career, and pressure from your family – it can all be very stressful without the right support, and can leave you feeling pretty down.
Compared to other age groups, young people are most likely to struggle with their mental health, and are at the highest risk of self-harm or suicide. Depression, body image issues, and other mental health problems in young people are serious and should never be ignored. Your thoughts and feelings are always valid.
There are a range of free services and counselling for young people struggling with mental health. Mental health can have a stigma attached to it, so all services are confidential – seeking help doesn’t have to mean your family and friends need to know.
